Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.(1 John4:7-8)
In the New Testament, God’s love is expressed by the Greek word AGAPE. Agape is love that acts for the happiness of others, even at the expense of one’s own. It is an act of will, not merely a feeling, emotion, or the worth of the person who is loved. This love of God is the very essence of God.
