Salvation is guaranteed because it is an eternal gift.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.(John 10:28-29)

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephetion 1:13-14)

What happens if I commit a sin after being saved?

After we receive salvation, our spirits are renewed, but we can still sin. If we do sin, we must admit our mistakes and humbly ask God for forgiveness.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.(1 John 1:9)

True faith, which takes salvation seriously, naturally leads us to good works, but good works are not seen as a means to salvation but rather by the change of heart and actions that demonstrate the truth of our faith.

Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (Romans6:1-2)
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:3-4)

What part does the Holy Spirit play in salvation?

The Holy Spirit plays a key role in salvation by convicting people of sin, leading them to repentance, and sealing them as children of God when they believe in Christ.

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14)
Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. (1Chrointians 12:3)

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. (Romans 8:11)

Not only does the Holy Spirit convict people of sin and lead them to God, but He also guides prayer, helps them understand God’s Word, gives them wisdom, serves as a counselor and advocate in the lives of believers in Jesus Christ.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26)

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26)

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (1 Corinthians 2:12-13)

What does it mean to do by faith?

God desires faith for salvation because it enables us to humbly accept God’s free grace, acknowledging that salvation is a gift of grace through trust in Christ’s finished work, not through merit or the ability to do good deeds. Faith reflects God’s sovereignty, enables fellowship with a God who rewards those who seek Him, and pleases God because it imputes His righteousness to us and enables us to live a life that reflects His glory. All we need to do is believe and accept Jesus as our Savior.
This will naturally lead to changes in your daily life.

even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; (Romans 3:22)

but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification. (Romans 4:24-25)

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:10-13)

Why do we need a Savior?

According to Statista and the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), as of early 2025, the world will have an estimated 12,241 to 12,331 nuclear warheads in nine countries. A nuclear war would have devastating environmental consequences, potentially leading to the end of modern civilization and ultimately to the extinction of humanity. Explosions and fires could kill millions within days, and the long-term global impacts of radiation, social collapse, and economic ruin would be far more severe. For decades, we have been on the brink of nuclear war. Rather than building nuclear weapons that kill people, we could have created an environment that fosters peace. This is the world we humans have created, a result of our drift from God’s love.

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, (1 perter 3:18)

Is Jesus the only way to salvation?

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Act 4:12)

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John14:6)

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John3:36)

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. (John 10:9)

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (John 5:24)

How Can I Be Saved?

God’s grace is God’s impartial gift to all who choose to respond to salvation through His love. It is not earned by human effort or good works, and it is given to all, regardless of whether they are rich or poor, but by God’s grace alone through humble faith in Jesus Christ.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (Ephesians 2:4-5)

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, (Titus 3:5)

God’s love is the ultimate motivation for this gift.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John4:9-10)

that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:15-16)

Reconciliation with God

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. (Romans 5:10)

that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 4:19)

What does it mean to be a human being born with sin?

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12)

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

To be saved, we must first acknowledge our sins. However, I think it’s difficult to understand and acknowledge this right away. It can suddenly feel like we’re being forced to accept a sin we don’t remember committing.
But if we don’t acknowledge our sins, how can we say to Jesus, who paid the price for us, “Thank you, I accept your gift?”
I believe the sinful nature inherited from Adam and Eve’s sin is a lack of God’s love. (God’s love in the Bible is agape in Greek, unconditional love that seeks nothing in return.)
Consider today’s society. Despite advancements in science and AI technology, global conflict and crime rates are still rising, yet people’s hearts haven’t changed much. Throughout history, we have remained a self-centered society, prioritizing power, wealth, and material possessions, and placing ourselves above others. Recent studies have shown that the top 1% of the wealthy control approximately 45% to 50% of the world’s wealth, while the top 10% control approximately 76% to 85%.
The Bible teaches that any talent, however great, is worthless if it is not based on love (1 Corinthians 13:13). Because Adam and Eve fell into Satan’s trap and distanced themselves from God, even if they became as wise as God, lacking God’s love, they tend to become self-centered and prioritize themselves.
God is love, and He is eternal. “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him ” (1 John 4:16). In other words, our sin is a lack of God’s love, and humans alone cannot create a peaceful world full of love.
“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. ”(1 John 3:16) When we begin to understand God’s great love, we awaken to a transformation of attitude—one of humility, repentance, and loving one another. This is the precious guidance of Jesus: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart,” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39, Luke 10:27, Mark 12:29-31)

Good News – Salvation

Salvation-map

Salvation (eternal life in heaven) is a gift that humans, who are born with sin, can receive by God’s grace through faith in Jesus.
Through His death on the cross and His resurrection, Jesus has forgiven our sins and made it possible for us to receive eternal life. All we have to do is receive it by faith, fully trusting in Jesus as our Savior.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:16, 17)

I have created a diagram to make the overall picture of salvation simple and easy to understand. In the next post, I will explain the specific parts, including scriptures.
